Naturally aged in new, charred American Oak barrels, Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve is bottled at near barrel proof to maintain its strong, rich flavors and aromas. WINES

Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto

1995 Bruno Giacosa
Barolo Falletto

750 ml

This wine possesses a medium dark ruby color with some lightening at the edge. The intense nose of cedar, spice box, soy, tar, rose petals, and black fruits is followed by a wine with a sweet attack, full body, and dense, layered, concentrated spicy flavors. As this muscular, tannic wine sat in the glass, all spice and dried herbs became increasingly apparent.

Prevail Image

Ferrari-Carano Prevail
2006 West Face

750 ml

I thought the 2006 West Face was slightly better than the 2005. Again a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, the wine shows more opulence, low acidity, and rich, concentrated fruit with a heady concoction of licorice, pepper, black currant, and tapenade. The wine provides some of the dusty, loamy soil notes that are no doubt a character of the Alexander Valley hillsides, with plenty of power, but also much more up-front fruit and a softer, more velvety style than the 2005. This fleshy wine should drink nicely for 10 - 12 years. - Robert Parker

Orin Swift Saldo Wine

Orin Swift
2009 Saldo Zinfandel
750 mL

Saldo is rich, ripe, and full-bodied, with aromas of black cherry and bramble fruit. The tannins are soft but the wine has a huge mid-palate. The soft, lush finish lingers. 2008 was a perfect vintage for Saldo. The hot weather was ideal for creating ripe zinfandel. Drink now and enjoy over the next five years.

Orin Swift The Prisioner Wine

Orin Swift
2009 The Prisoner
750 mL

This vintage has a deep ruby hue that is nearly opaque. The aromas elevate from the glass starting with black currant, dark blackberry, cherry, and cassis rounded out by subtle hints of seasoned French and American oak. The entry of the wine is massive and leads into a lush middle framed by bright acid and supple tannins. The finish is long, lingering and filled with soft velvety tannins lasting for nearly thirty seconds.

Dom Ruinart Champagne

Dom Ruinart
1996 Brut Champagne
750 mL

Doesn’t get any better than this!

“Pale gold with an energetic mousse. Highly aromatic nose offers a sexy, smoky perfume of pear, white peach, candied lemon, buttery brioche and honeysuckle. Youthfully firm, palate-staining green apple and citrus flavors are complicated by gently toasty lees; chewy in texture, with an expansive but vibrant back end. Serious, penetrating and deep wine, with outstanding clarity and lingering finishing flavors of tangerine, lemon pith and spiced pear. Very impressive but awfully young, with the concentration and balance to repay ten or more years of cellaring.”

BEER
S

Ruthless Rye IPA Bottle Shot

Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye IPA - $10.99/6-pack - 12 oz. cans

Origin: California Style: Rye IPA ABV: 6.6%.
Rate Beer: 98

"Ruthless Rye pours clear copper with two fingers of foam. The aroma is spicy and grassy -- the hops in this beer run more toward earth and pine than citrus, though hints of orange peel come through in the taste. The beer has a strong malt profile, so this is a well-balanced beer, one that's not very bitter despite its IPA status."

Celebration Ale

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale - $10.99/6-pack - 12 oz. cans
Origin: California Style: Fresh Hop Ale ABV: 6.8%.
Rate Beer Rating: 98

Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale represents a time honored tradition of brewing a special beer for the holiday season. There are generous portions of barley malts and fine whole hops of several varieties, creating a brew with a full, rich and hearty character.

Origin: Belgium Style: Abbey Dubbel ABV: 8%.
Rate Beer: 99 Beer Advocate: 92

St. Bernardus Prior 8 from Brouwerij St. Bernard is a traditional abbey ale brewed in the classic "Dubbel" style of Belgium's Trappist Monks. It has a ruby to purple color, smooth, creamy richness of texture that is almost oily, and a malt-fruit complexity reminiscent of coconut.

Old Chub

Oskar Blues Old Chub Scottish Style Ale
- $10.99/6-pack - 12 oz. cans

Origin: Colorado Style: Scottish Ale ABV: 8.0%.

Beer Advocate Rating: A-

Brewery notes: " Old Chub is brewed with hearty amounts of seven different malts, including crystal and chocolate malts, and a smidge of US and UK hops. Old Chub also gets a dash of beechwood-smoked grains imported from Bamburg, Germany, home of the world's greatest smoked beers. Old Chub takes care of our deep affections for malt. The cola-colored beer (almost black) features a tan head, a creamy, skim-milk mouthfeel, and rich, semi-sweet flavors of caramel and chocolate throughout. The addition of smoked grains gives Old Chub a delicate kiss of smoke on the finish. Here is the beer equivalent of a lightly smoked single malt scotch, or your favorite dark chocolate." Amazing, you can get this quality ale in a can!

Scottish Ale: "The Scottish style of ales break down into Light, Heavy and Export. In the 19th century Scotland, a nomenclature, based on the now obsolete shilling currency, was devised in order to distinguish each. 60/- (light), 70/- (heavy), 80/- (export), 90/- to 160/- for Scotch Ales. Scottish Ales traditionally go through a long boil in the kettle for a caramelization of the wort. This produces a deep copper to brown in colored brew and a higher level of unfermentable sugars which create a rich mouthfeel and malty flavors and aromas. Overall hop character is low, light floral or herbal, allowing its signature malt profile to be the highlight. Smoky characters are also common." (Beer Advocate)

Dales Pale Ale

Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale - $9.99/6-pack - 12 oz. cans

Origin: Colorado Style: American IPA ABV: 6.5 %

Beer Advocate Rating B+

Brewery notes: " Dale's Pale Ale is America's first hand-canned craft beer. It's an assertive but deftly balanced beer (somewhere between an American pale ale and an India Pale Ale) brewed with hefty amounts of European malts and American hops. It features a merengue-like head, a copper color, and a hoppy nose, thanks to a big post-boil addition of Centennial hops. To complement its hoppy first impression, Dale's also sports a rich middle of malts and hops, and a bracing finish. Dale's features 65 International Bittering Units." OMG! A great beer from a CAN!

Origin:
Novato, California Style: Double IPA ABV: 8.5%

Beer Advocate
Rating A-

Brewery Notes: "If One is Good, Then Two is Better!" Our Moylander Double IPA is fat and resiny, with aggressive and excessive hops swinging on an enormous malt backbone like naughty monkeys on a vine. Double malt, double hops - do the math, it's academic. This brew has twice the things you're looking for, and it's big enough to share with the one you love. And isn't that what it's all about?"

Montoya
Pinot Noir
750 mL

Wow! A Pinot Noir of this quality at this price is a terrific find. A pale purple shading to brick at the edges, this Monterey wine offers nice fruit with a soft mouthfeel. Montoya Vineyards is located just outside Greenfield, CA, in southern Monterey County. Because of its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, this is a cooler growing region, perfect for Pinot Noir. The grapes come from old vines planted in the 1960s - this gives more concentrated flavor to the fruit, adding a sense of dried figs and spice to the standard strawberry. This is an easy-drinking option for all lighter meals.

MIXED CASES:

Trust us to assemble a perfect case for the season, holiday, or special occasion.

Alternative White Wines

For a change of pace try these alternative white wines this summer:

- Verdicchio: A white-wine grape grown mainly in Italy's Marches region where it's been cultivated since the fourteenth century. Verdicchio's name is derived from Verde (meaning green), referring to the yellow-green skin of the grape, which gives the wine a subtle greenish hue. The wines are generally crisp and dry, with a light but elegant aroma and flavor.

- Torrontes: Enticing aromas that are strikingly similar to viognier, with hints of peach pit, flowers, and orange citrus fruit. On the palate, it has a beautiful structure and acidity along with enticing fruit flavors that keep you coming back for more. Plenty of body for a wine that shows such delicate aromas an dflavors. Fruity, floral and yet still quite dry, this wine has to be tasted to be believed.

- Gruner Veltliner: White-wine grape grown principally in Austria, but also cultivated in Hungary, Czechoslovakia, and Slovenia. This grape produces pale, crisp, light- to medium-bodied slightly spicy wines of good quality.

- Vouvrey: Appellation that is just easy of Tours in the center of France's Loire Valley. Chenin Blanc, which is noted for its high acid levels, is the only variety grown in the vineyards that surrond the village of Vouvray. The white wines vary greatly in style-they can be very sweet to very dry, and still or sparkling. The best are genarally wll-made, medium-dry wines, with a touch of sweetness to help balance the sharp acidity.

- Viognier: An esteemed white-wine throughout the world. Its low yield and susceptibility to vineyard diseases made Viognier wines extremely difficult to find. Connoisseurs crave these intense, dry white wines with vibrant floral qualities and an intriguing bouquet reminiscent of apricots, peaches, and pears.

- Pinot Blanc: Pinot Blanc's most noted growing area is the Alsace region in France. Pinot Blanc wines are noted for their fresh, yeasty, appley aroma, sometimes with hints of spice. Although not considred

- Vino Verde: Vino Verdes are light and fresh, and are intended to be drunk within a year. At less than one bar of CO2 pressure, they do not quite qualify as semi-sparkling wines but do have a definite pétillance. The white Vinho Verde is very fresh, due its natural acidity, with fruity and floral aromas that depend on the grape variety. The white wines are lemon- or straw-coloured, around 8.5 to 11% alcohol, and are made from local grape varieties Loureiro, Arinto, Trajadura, Avesso and Azal.
